Where on the internet is there to get a puppy besides petfinder?

Question by Blair: Where on the internet is there to get a puppy besides petfinder?
we were going to get a puppy from petfinder, but all the stuff you have to go through to get a dog is to difficult. but are there any other sites to find puppies available for adoption?
and its not that i couldnt pass it, it just seems difficult, and i think their requirements are kind of silly. plus i dont have an invisible fence. and i do keep checking the shelter, and the one where i live is small so they dont have puppies, just adults

Check out your local shelter there are 100s of puppies needing to be adopted but you will still have to go through the whole process of being checked being interviewed and paying an adoption fee

If you feel you can not pass the interviews and questions from a reputable rescue in your search to purchase a dog then I suggest you go to your local pound.

When you purchase a dog from the local pound, all they care about is if you can pay the fees. They have no questionaires and no home checks.

Personally if you think you are not good enough to pass the rescues questions and interviews you should really rethink if you should have a dog at all.

If you go to http://www.craigslist.com and go to the animal section, alot of the times there are puppys on sale and even free. Its just what time you look but there are often very many.

Your local animal shelter or private rescues in your area may have a website. Or you can look here to see breed specific rescues in your area: http://www.akc.org/breeds/rescue.cfm

Not every rescue or shelter has the same adoption process. If you think one is too strict, try elsewhere. But, if you are ready for a dog you should be able to easily meet their requirements. They just want to make sure that the dog you adopt will be with you forever and not returned.

Petfinder deals with hundreds of adoption agencies. They don’t personally adopt them out…they connect you with the agencies who DO. And…If it’s NOT difficult to get a pet…it’s not a reputable organization!. They want to make sure that YOU’RE a responsible pet owner as well…which indicates that they actually care for and about the animals they adopt out, and therefore…you’ll be getting a pet that’s been treated well.

I just got my pup from Petfinder three months ago…the “stuff” I had to go through was well worth it.

Go to your local shelter and adopt a dog. There are so many that need loving homes. I have two dogs I adopted that were both around four months. One from the shelter, the other was on the way to the pound.

Filling out a questionnaire, supplying a vet reference and having them do a home check is too difficult, yet you think you can own a dog?

  12. Rayven ~ Life's a B says:

Hate to break it to you blair but ALL shelters and rescues will have you fill out an application, want references and do home checks.

Only idotio bybs, puppymills and petshops take your money and hand you a dog.
