Q&A: How do I put my dogs on Petfinder?

Question by Mommy of Trouble: How do I put my dogs on Petfinder?
I hate to, but I’ve decided for the best interest of my dogs, I need to give them up.

How do I put them on Petfinder.com?
What I do and don’t do with my dogs is NONE of any of your business, just answer the question I ask, no one is on here for your personal opinion.
Idividuals have put dogs on there, just need to figure it out.

I don’t want any personal opinions.

You give them up to a local rescue and they put them up. Petfinder is generally for rescue/shelter organizations. I don’t think I have ever see an individual person put dogs up on there.

What do you think? Answer below!

I’m not sure…go on the website and look for that information.

I was under the impression that Petfinder is used by shelters and other organizations that post their dogs. I’m not sure if you can place your dogs on there as an individual.

Ok..here’s the link…it took me 3 seconds to find it

Making room for your new Sheltie?

  3. Bobbie L says:

You take them back to the breeder which is stated in the contract. Why are you getting rid of a dog when you’re looking to get a new Shetland Sheepdog?

  4. officer Yoshimi says:

Why would you inquire about a sheltie just days ago. And then today ask how you can get your dog listed on petfinder? What happend did their novelty wear off?…..People like you shouldn’t own pets PERIOD!!!!!!

You give them to an animal shelter and they put them on Petfinder. Then you don’t get another dog ever. Why would you give your dogs up just to get another dog? That’s stupid and cruel!

Please surrender your dog and don’t ever get one again!

Dogs aren’t disposable! But obviously you think they are!

  6. Blarp says:

    YOU ARE EVIL!

Why are you getting rid of them if you are planning on getting a new sheltie!!!???!!

Scum like you should not be able to own a dog!

Wow. Not only busted for trying to get rid of your dogs to get a new one, but geez! You actually considered breeding your poor rescued female Chi? Was that before you decided to dump her? Too expensive for you to breed her?
Give them all up and go buy fish. You are not a good candidate for dog ownership.

If you give all of them up, I promise we will find much better homes for every one of them.

First you want to breed your low quality rescue Chi. Then you want to get a american pit bull terrier. Then you want to get a sheltie?

Dogs are NOT toys. You need to make up your mind. You don’t get rid of a dog to get another one.

You CAN’T put them on petfinder. Put an add in the paper or put them on criagslist with an adoption fee. Please don’t get any more dogs unless you plan to keep them!

troll. i read your other questions and i even answered them. You are going to sell your dogs on petfinder? that you “love to death”, then why are you getting rid of them for a Sheltie? I thought the people you moved in with didn’t allow dogs, you lying troll.

the ONLY place you can list your dogs is on the classified section.

The main search page is for shelters and rescues ONLY. There is quite a process of getting approved as a shelter/rescue to be able to list animals. The only way you could get your pets listed there is if you find a shelter or rescue that’s willing to do a courtesy post, they may be more willing to do that if you allow them to assist with the adoption process and allow them to take the adoption fee.

    ADDED
The ONLY place individuals can list their dogs is on their classified area.

The main search area is for SHELTERS AND RESCUES ONLY.. the ONLY way you will get your dog listed there is to contact a shelter or rescue about doing a courtesy post. Otherwise, no individuals CAN NOT list their dogs in the main search area.. only the classified section.

I looked into listing some of my ex MIL’s dogs there a few years ago when she had over a dozen dogs and was looking at reducing numbers. You have to go thru a process of prooving that you are a legit shelter or rescue to post there.

You can list your dogs under the Classifieds section…there’s a link at the top of the page. Here’s a link: http://www.petfinder.com/classifieds/classifieds.html

  12. This solution does not ride substantially with many animal-lovers and the people who work with animals. There are instantly fresh coevals of “shelters” dedicated to caring for these marginalized faunas. There are many positron emission tomography borrowing organizations that make it their occupations to find dwelling houses for lost and desolated favorites without mercy killing being an pick at all. A lot of them work together with big ducky supplying shops in order to pass a wider audience and find homes for all the animate beings that need them.
